Frequency of Treatment
For acne, 1x weekly for 6–12 weeks. Monthly or seasonal maintenance is recommended.
For pigment, 2–3x every 3–4 weeks for desired results. Seasonal or yearly maintenance is recommended.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
Timing is everything. Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any big event.
Avoid sun tanning, tanning beds or self-tanners 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Discontinue photosensitizing medications 72 hours prior to treatment.
Let our providers know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be used.
Discontinue any products containing active ingredients, including: benzoyl peroxide, retinol, tretinoin, AHAs/BHAs (e.g. glycolic or salicylic Acid for 5 days prior to treatment.
The skin should not be irritated or peeling (such as may occur with topical retinoids, exfoliants, and other skin treatments) and should not have any active areas of infection (herpes/cold sores, bacterial, or other infections) prior to treatment.
Avoidance of Accutane for the past 6 months is required.
We require clearance from your OB-GYN prior to treatment if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Post Care Instructions
For 24 hours, avoid the following:
- Active ingredients and exfoliants (e.g. tretinoin, retinols, glycolic/salicylic acids as well as acne creams or gels)
- Shaving
- Extremely hot or cold water – wash with tepid water
- Swimming pools and spas with multiple chemicals/chlorine
- Activities that cause excessive perspiration
A cold compress can be used 24 hours post-treatment to provide relief if the treated skin is especially warm and to minimize potential swelling.
Skin may appear red and swollen and have a mild sunburn sensation. This is a normal reaction and can last from a few hours to 1-3 days post-treatment.
Treated pigment will turn darker (brown to black) within 24-48 hours then exfoliate off the face in approximately one week and off the body in approximately 2-3 weeks.
Erythema (redness) and slight edema (swelling) may occur around the treated vessels.
Do not pick or scratch at treated skin.
Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment as long as skin integrity has not been compromised.
Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
If exposed to the sun, always use broad spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours.
You may resume your normal skin care routine immediately after, however wait 24 hours before restarting active ingredients as well as chemical and physical exfoliants.

Cancellation Policy
santāl skin adheres to a 24-hour Cancellation / No-Show policy to respect our providers’ time. A credit card on file is required to reserve all appointments. Failure to show and appointments canceled less than 24-hours prior to your appointment will be charged 50% of your booked laser service(s) and all other treatments will forfeit the $50 booking deposit. We kindly ask that you reschedule or cancel at least 24-hours in advance. By scheduling an appointment, you are agreeing to our cancellation/no-show policy.
