Our favorite skin resurfacing treatment
What is MOXI?
MOXI is a non-ablative laser treatment that uses gentle heat to stimulate collagen production in the skin. We love this treatment to improve the appearance of aging skin and correct the initial signs of sun damage. MOXI can be used on the face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs, and can treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, and sun damage.
What can I expect during treatment?
So you’ve booked an appointment and you’re on your way to healthier, more radiant skin! Here’s what you can expect from a MOXI treatment at santāl skin.
We go over any and all questions you may have regarding the treatment itself.
We apply a topical numbing cream that will make sure you will be comfortable throughout the entirety of the treatment.
After 30 minutes of numbing, we will cleanse the skin and provide you with protective eyewear.
The treatment begins, and your provider glides the MOXI handpiece across the skin while the laser does its work to correct all of your skin concerns!
At the end of your treatment, we will apply a cooling face mask to soothe the treated area. Note: This mask can be taken home with you, cleansed, and reused up to 3x!
We will send you home with an aftercare card listing all the do’s, don’ts, and products t use post-treatment.
What can I expect after the treatment?
MOXI creates micro-coagulation zones in the skin—the body naturally repairs these zones and replaces damaged cells with healthy, vibrant skin.
After the treatment, you may experience some temporary discomfort or sensitivity in the treated area, such as increased redness, warmth, or a sunburn-like sensation. These side effects are usually mild and should subside within a few hours to a day. You may also experience minor bleeding at the treatment site, and your skin may feel sandpapery the day after.
MOXI treatments can take 8–15 minutes, depending on the intensity level, which is selected based on the patient’s age and stage. 2–4 treatments are typically recommended.
What is the downtime?
MOXI treatments are non-invasive and fractional, which means they require little to no downtime and have a significantly reduced healing time. There is usually no downtime required after a MOXI treatment, so you can return to your normal routine. However, you should avoid sunlight, tanning beds, self-tanners, and spray tans before and after treatment to avoid causing additional trauma to your skin. You should also avoid taking anti-inflammatory soap or ibuprofen, as the inflammatory response triggers collagen production and can prevent the treatment’s full benefits.
After treatment, the skin may be slightly pink or red for up to 4 days, and may feel tight and peel slightly. On the second or third day, you may notice tiny dark spots or a bronzed appearance on your skin, which are part of the healing process. Skin texture may also feel rough or gritty for a few days while it heals.
How often should I treat?
The number of MOXI treatments you need depends on your treatment goals and desired level of correction. Most patients receive 3 to 4 corrective treatments, and then may opt for regular maintenance treatments. Results can last for months to years, but annual maintenance treatments are recommended to maintain the results.
